'Food Network' Chef Robert Irvine Fired Over False Resume

'Dinner: Impossible' host and celebrity chef Robert Irvine has been dropped from the 'Food Network' for lying on his résumé.

As per the St. Petersburg Times, Irvine fabricated his education and made numerous false statements on his résumé, including claiming to have royal connections, a knighthood and experience that included cooking for Princess Diana and four US presidents.

However, as it turns out the the 42-year-old is not Sir Robert, and had not been made a Knight Commander of the Royal Victorian Order as he had claimed. Nor was he given a castle by the Queen.

His claim to have helped make side panels for Charles and Diana's wedding cake also appeared to be cooked up. And cooking for four presidents? Not true, Irvine had had no connection to US presidents during his time at the White House, but was rather working in the West Wing's navy mess facility.

The channel has announced it will not be renewing Irvine's contract, saying it had discovered "embellishments and inaccuracies": “We looked into the situation and found that, as Robert as already admitted, there were some embellishments and inaccuracies in his resume,” Food Network President Brooke Johnson said. “The few and minor incidents of the inclusion of these embellishments into ‘Dinner Impossible’ have been removed."

"We have not renewed Robert’s contract for future seasons but will fulfill our contractual obligations.”

Meanwhile, Chef Irvine has released his own statement: "I was wrong to exaggerate in statements related to my experiences regarding the royal family. I am proud of my work while serving in the Royal Navy and on board the royal yacht Britannia, also as part of the guest chef programme in the White House with the United States navy, in addition to my culinary accomplishments. I should have stood on those accomplishments alone, without embellishment... I am truly sorry for the errors in my judgment."
