Deborah Jeane Palfrey, known as the "D.C. Madam," has been found dead in Florida, according to Tarpon Springs police.
Police are investigating the apparent suicide. The D.C. Madam was recently convicted of running a prostitution ring with a high-end client list including US lawmakers.
Police found the body in a small shed outside her mother's mobile home in the Florida town of Tarpon Springs.
Police Captain Jeffrey Young says handwritten notes were found on the scene that describes her intent to take her life, and adds, "foul play does not appear to be involved."
Palfrey's escort agency called Pamela Martin and Associates catered to a number of public sector officials, including US military brass, and international executives.
She was convicted on April 15th of money laundering, and racketeering charges, but was yet to be sentenced.
