Star Jones slams her former 'View' co-hosts in an upcoming issue of 'Essence' magazine.
In an interview in the November issue of the magazine, Jones says: "Those girls were hateful" during her departure from the show in 2006.
Jones adds that the media backlash after she left was "mean-spirited" and believes that Barbara Walters "set me up." Although she does admit that she probably shouldn't have lied about having gastric bypass surgery: "I should have told them... there would not have been a backlash."
Barbara Walters said earlier this year that Star forced the women on the show to lie about her surgery: "It put us all in a terrible position. It meant we virtually had to lie for Star, especially when she said again and again on the air that her weight loss was due primarily to portion control and Pilates... Joy Behar, in particular, resented having to go along with the lie that implied that all one needed to do was sit-ups and ingest one cookie instead of two."
Star also has a few words for ex-husband Al Reynolds has publicly said he "still loves" Jones, plainly stating, "I'm not in love with him." Their divorce was finalized in September.
Jones says she fell "into a depression" after losing her Court TV show last year, but is ready "to fall in love again. I'm ready to love 24/7. I want happiness."
