Porn During Super Bowl Interrupts Arizona Broadcast
KVOA-TV says it is "dismayed and disappointed" after some cable viewers had their coverage disrupted towards the end of the game. "KVOA will investigate what happened and make sure our viewers get answers," says company president Gary Nielsen after the station received thousands of calls from furious viewers. Although he says the problem wasn't on their end, but rather Comcast, "When the NBC feed of the Super Bowl was transmitted from KVOA to local cable providers and through over-the-air antennas, there was no pornographic material." Comcast says it's investigating the incident, but there's no doubt some lonely switch operator will soon be in a boatload of trouble: "We are mortified by last evening's Super Bowl interruption and we apologize to our customers. Our initial investigation suggests this was an isolated malicious act. We are conducting a thorough investigation to determine how this happened." The explicit porn clip was transmitted to roughly 80,000 Comcast customers in the area just after Arizona Cardinals' Larry Fitzgerald scored a touchdown in the final minutes of the game. The video showed a woman unzipping a man's trousers, playing with his penis, followed by full-frontal male nudity. Joel Hilander tells AP that he and his young children saw the clip, "I couldn't believe it. And I couldn't believe that my children were watching it either." "I just figured it was another commercial until I looked up," another viewer tells the Arizona Daily Star. "Then he did his little dance with everything hanging out."
Super Bowl viewers in Tucson, Arizona, saw a different kind of action during Sunday night's big game after a station's broadcast of the Super Bowl was interrupted for approximately thirty seconds by an adult film.
