Eddie Murphy has been ordered to pay $51,000 a month in child support, after losing a court battle with Melanie Brown.
Murphy and former 'Spice Girl' Mel B dated for six months in 2006. In all Murphy will pay roughly $10 million, until Angel Iris turns 18.
The deal marks the end of the couple's drawn-out legal battle, sparked when Murphy denied he was the girl's father back in April 2007. Murphy demanded a paternity test to prove he was indeed the father.
"I don't know whose child that is, until it comes out and has a blood test," Murphy publicly said on Dutch TV show RTL Boulevard after splitting from Brown. Weeks later, Murphy claimed he had been dating new girlfriend Tracey Edmonds since October so he couldn't be the father.
Speaking of their relationship in a recent interview, Mel told 'OK!' magazine: "We had talked about having a family and getting married. I came to see my mum for a few days as I wanted to see her in person. Then I got a flight home, landed and there is a whole sea of photographers. There were people shouting about a DNA test. I was in complete shock. I tried to call Eddie and couldn't get through. Then I got through and he said he would call me back and that was it. He never called back."
That was, of course, until the DNA test results proved Eddie Murphy was indeed the father. That only left the question of how much the comedian would have to pay in child support, and there's no doubt Murphy's earlier behavior played a big role in the hefty settlement.
