Florida Cops Plan To Send Letters To Wives Of Men Caught With Hookers
Escambia county sheriff's deputies say prostitution in the Florida area is so out of control, they plan on trying a new strategy. The idea? Send wives letters from the department letting them know when their husbands are arrested for soliciting hookers. Lt. Pat Spears says their motive isn't to expose the men but protect the women who could become innocent victims, since many of the prostitutes in this area are HIV positive. "We're not trying to break up homes or tear up marriages," says Spears. "What we're trying to do is a safety issue -- warning women what this guy could be taking home."
