DJ AM didn't commit suicide, according to the New York City Medical Examiner.
The medical examiner's office has ruled that Adam Goldstein instead died accidentally of 'acute intoxication' after taking a lethal cocktail of prescription drugs and cocaine.
The examiner found a combination of cocaine, sleeping pills and painkillers in Goldstein's system including OxyContin, Benadryl, Xanax, Klonopin and Ativan.
Goldstein was found dead in his New York city apartment on August 28, after a friend called 911.
In days after the shocking news, investigators and some friends wondered whether Goldstein may have taken his own life because he was distraught after a recent breakup with his girlfriend. That has now been put to rest.
Goldstein claimed he had been off drugs for just over eleven years, while doing promotion for his upcoming MTV reality show, 'Gone Too Far', earlier this year.
It is thought he relapsed after being critically hurt in the Learjet plane crash last September that killed four people, but spared him and drummer Travis Barker.
Goldstein was severely burned and had to get skin graft surgery after the accident.
As for his unaired reality series about substance abuse, MTV said last week it was moving ahead with its plans but that will likely change given the now conclusive finding of substance abuse which led to Goldstein's death.
