The driver of Miley Cyrus [photos]' tour bus is dead after the bus crashed and flipped onto its side in Virginia.
The 'Hannah Montana' star wasn't on board but several others are also reported to have suffered minor injuries. The 53-year-old driver, William G. Douglas, died at the scene.
An investigation is underway to determine exactly why the bus drifted off the road but Sgt. Thomas Molnar says the bus likely struck an embankment and overturned.
The bus was one of four traveling together after the singer's two shows in Long Island, New York. The group was heading to Greensboro, North Carolina.
Miley apparently wasn't traveling with the group because she was at home in Nashville spending time with her family before the next show.
"We are deeply saddened by the loss of Bill 'Uncle Bill' Douglas," says a statement released by Billy Ray Cyrus.
"Members of our tour are like members of our family. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family in the midst of this tragedy. He will truly be missed."
