The man accused of surreptitiously filming ESPN sideline reporter Erin Andrews nude in her Nashville hotel room is expected to plead guilty to interstate stalking and for repeatedly harassing her.
Michael David Barrett originally entered a not guilty plea, but has since decided to cut a deal, according to new court documents filed this week.
Erin Andrews is also expected to come face-to-face for the first time with Barrett next week in a Los Angeles courtroom, when he enters the expected plea.
The 31-year-old will reportedly attend with her father and ask the judge to impose a harsher sentence.
Barrett is suspected of renting hotel rooms adjacent to Andrews in at least three cities last year and altering their peepholes so he could film Andrews.
The FBI says he recorded Andrews "with the intent to harass, intimidate, and to cause substantial emotional distress to a person in another state."
"Mr. Barrett accepts full responsibility for his conduct," says Barrett's attorney. "He apologizes to Ms. Andrews, and expresses his deep regret for his conduct that caused her so much pain. It is his sincere hope that these events can now become an opportunity to make positive changes in his life."
The Illinois insurance executive could face up to five years in prison and a $250,000 fine. However, as part of the deal, if he shows remorse and stays out of trouble, prosecutors can recommend a reduced sentence of 27 months in prison.
