Kanye West's interruption of Taylor Swift's acceptance speech not only helped launch the country singer into the stratosphere, it's also given him one of the most memorable quotes of the year.
Fred Shapiro, an associate librarian at Yale Law School, who does an annual book about the quotes of the year releases his fourth edition this year.
And although this year the list is dominated by quotes from the contentious debate over health care, Kanye West and Balloon Boy make the list.
Shapiro covers features quotes that are famous, important or give an indication of the mood of the times.
Here's the list of the top ten quotes of the year from the 'The Yale Book of Quotations':
1. "Keep your government hands off my Medicare," said by a speaker at health care reform town hall meeting in Simpsonville, SC.
2. "We're going to be in the Hudson," Captain Chesley 'Sully' Sullenberger told air traffic controllers.
3. "There's an app for that," Apple's infamous advertising slogan for the iPhone.
4. "You lie!," Rep. Joe Wilson shouted out to Obama before a joint session of Congress.
5. "The Cambridge police acted stupidly," Obama as he gave a premature assessment of black scholar Henry Louis Gates Jr's arrest at his home.
6. "I'm going to let you finish, but Beyonce had one of the best videos of all time! One of the best videos of all time!" Kanye West as he interrupted Taylor Swift's acceptance speech at the MTV Video Music Awards.
