Simon Cowell In Talks With Paula Abdul For 'X Factor'
Simon Cowell is in talks with some familiar faces for his upcoming reality competition, 'The X Factor'. Cowell is in discussions with former 'American Idol' judge Paula Abdul and his current 'X Factor' UK partner, Cheryl Cole, for the show, which launches on Fox in fall 2011. Cowell announced last week that he would be leaving 'Idol' to focus on an American version of his own talent show. "The X Factor will launch in 2011," he told reporters at the Television Critics Association’s winter press tour. "Because of that, this will be my last season on American Idol. I was offered a lot of money to stay on. But that wasn't the reason behind it. I wanted to do something different. I wanted a new challenge." Signing up Abdul would be an especially big move to not only bring over longtime 'Idol' fans but also to get an instant sense of comfortable chemistry on the panel. And if you've seen the British version of 'X Factor', you know that judges are even more important since each one mentors a group of singers and, in a sense, becomes an active part of the competition. However, Cheryl Cole's mother says it won't be happening because Cole is interested in starting a family with her husband, soccer star Ashley Cole. "Cheryl is really in favor of working mums but knows this would be quite hard to do in America," Joan tells 'The Sunday People'. "She also wouldn't be able to bear leaving Ashley for too long because she doesn't like not being with him." Tony Mottola is also another rename that Cowell has dropped as a 'good choice' for the 'X Factor' judging panel.
