Paramount Pictures has announced that Tom Cruise is set to return for 'Mission: Impossible IV'.
Cruise and 'Mission: Impossible III' director JJ Abrams previously agreed to produce a fourth movie in the action franchise.
However, it wasn't clear if that was ever going to happen after Cruise and Paramount had a falling out nearly three years ago due to the star's off-camera behavior.
"As much as we like him personally, we thought it was wrong to renew his deal. His recent conduct has not been acceptable to Paramount," Viacom chairman Sumner Redstone said at the time.
But with Cruise's jumping the couch antics now ancient history, the two have made up and the star is once again teaming up with the studio for a fourth film in the profitable franchise.
"Tom and JJ are great talents and we are excited to be working with them to relaunch this legendary franchise," now says Paramount chairman and CEO Brad Grey.
The movie is to start shooting sometime this summer in time for a release around Memorial Day weekend in 2011.
A new director will be brought on as Abrams will only be producing this time around. Josh Applebaum and Andre Nemec have been tapped to write the script.
