The man who secretly shot a nude video of ESPN sideline reporter Erin Andrews has been sentenced to two and half in prison after giving a tearful apology that was harshly rebuked by his victim.
Michael David Barrett, 49, of Illinois, pleaded guilty in December to interstate stalking after prosecutors accused him of following the reporter and taping her through hotel peepholes.
He recorded the video after removing the peephole from her door in one of the hotel rooms and used his mobile phone to capture video of Erin Andrews naked.
After the sentencing, Andrews said "I'm at the angry stage right now. I'm mad. Thirty months is not enough."
The sentence was at the high end of federal guidelines but less than the five-year maximum.
She went at Barrett for claiming he should get leniency because he's paying for his guilty plea with public humiliation.
"Let's talk about public humiliation," Andrews said. "I'm living public humiliation. The picture on the Internet is mine, it's not his."
"This will never be over for me, and in return I never want it to be over for you. Because of him I fear for my life. Every time I check into a hotel room, I fear he's in the closet. Every time I come home alone, I'm waiting for him to jump out from behind a door."
"You are a sexual predator. You are a sexual deviant. I don't feel safe with you on the loose. They should lock you up and throw away the key."
Andrews is currently practicing to appear on the next season of 'Dancing with the Stars'.
