Two of the John Travolta's dogs have been killed in a freak accident at Bangor International Airport in Maine.
"At approximately 1 AM on Thursday, May 13, 2010, an airplane carrying members of the John Travolta family landed at BIA," reads a statement released by the airport.
"While there, two small dogs were taken for a walk by someone who is not a family member. An airport service pickup truck was approaching the airplane to service the plane and did not see the dogs."
"Unfortunately, the dogs were struck and killed. The airport is investigating the accident. Out of respect for the family's privacy, we will make no further comment."
Travolta is an accomplished pilot who often flies to Bangor while en route to his home on Islesboro, off the Maine coast. It hasn't been confirmed whether he was in the cockpit the night his dogs died.
Another tragic accident for the 'Pulp Fiction' star, who said a couple of months ago that he was still recovering from the death of his 16-year-old son Jett.
"We are working hard on healing, still," Travolta told 'People'. "It's going to be a lifelong project. Everybody has been so enormously supportive and I really appreciate it."
Jett died of a seizure at the family's home in the Bahamas in January 2009.
