'Jersey Shore's The Situation To Earn $5 Million In 2010
Mike Sorrentino, aka 'Jersey Shore's The Situation, will earn more than $5 million this year. Sorrentino is earning close to $60,000 an episode after bonus incentives for the reality show, based on ratings, and charges event-appearance fees from $15,000-$50,000 -- which will bring him $1 million this year alone. The 29-year-old also has developed several products based on his much-touted six-pack, including 'The Situation Workout', and a supplement line distributed in association with GNC, endorsement of a new vodka line, Vitamin Water, Reebok and a clothing line with Dilligaf. Not to mention, Sorrentino has earned a six-figure advance for his autobiography, 'Here's the Situation'. His ratings-based contract has also proved to be a smart choice as the show receives the biggest ratings MTV has seen in seven years. "We are really excited about all the opportunities coming Mike's way," his manager tells THR. "He has been able to secure many endorsement deals, business opportunities and additional television offers based on the success of the show. Our goal has always been to try to build a brand if the situation presented itself." MTV has released a line of cast bobbleheads, swimsuits, T-shirts, Halloween costumes, buttons, DVDs, and whatever else you can think of based on the show -- which only adds to the cast's bottom line. Not bad for a guy who worked as an assistant manager of a fitness center and put in for unemployment in New Jersey on Oct. 25, 2009, just five weeks before the first episode of 'Jersey Shore' aired.
