Anne Hathaway To Play Chris Colfer's Lesbian Aunt on 'Glee'
Anne Hathaway (photos) is set to guest star on an upcoming episode of 'Glee'. "We just finalized a deal with Anne to come onto the show," says creator Ryan Murphy, who reveals the actress who invented the offbeat role for herself. "She's already created her role," Murphy said. "She wants to play the lesbian aunt of Chris Colfer. Because everyone needs a lesbian aunt." "Anne Hathaway as a lesbian — just that sentence is awesome," adds an excited Colfer. "I think she wants to be Kurt's aunt, so I'm very much looking forward to that." "She had a great idea and with someone like her, it's sort of hard to say no," explains producer Brad Falchuk. "We generally don't get excited about guest stars just for the sake of guest stars. But if you have someone like Anne Hathaway or Gwyneth Paltrow (photos), they're amazing and we're happy to have them." Murphy says despite the guest stars they've already had, he's always pleasantly surprised when a big name star approaches him about being on the show. "They always do but it's so sweet. I think they support the show because it's about the arts." 'Glee' was named best comedy or musical for the second straight year at the Golden Globe Awards.
