Ricky Gervais To Make Cameo On US Version Of 'The Office'
Fans of 'The Office' will finally be getting their wish. Ricky Gervais, the creator and star of the British show which inspired the NBC series, will reprise his role as David Brent when he checks in with Michael Scott. Gervais' appearance was apparently shot in September, but kept quiet by producers until now, likely to capitalize on the buzz from his Golden Globes' hosting duties. It is expected to air on January 27. "Ricky had wanted to do something with the US Office and it felt like we shouldn't go the whole series without them connecting," says show-runner Paul Lieberstein. "But we had some issues to work out, like how does David Brent live in the world of Michael Scott." Producers ultimately decided that they didn't want to bring Gervais into the world of Dunder-Mifflin. "It's outside of the office, and it's just the two of them interacting," adds Lieberstein. "It's just a little nod to Steve and his final year."
