Jeremy Renner, who was nominated for an Oscar for his breakout role in 'The Hurt Locker', has been offered the starring role in 'The Bourne Legacy'.
Tony Gilroy, who co-wrote the first three films in the Bourne series, has been testing actors to star in the film which would center on a character separate from Jason Bourne.
Gilroy described the film as a 'stand-alone project' after Matt Damon refused to star in another installment of the action star but it is believed that the movie could form the basis for a spinoff franchise.
But Renner is a man in demand and may have to turn down the role.
In addition to starring with Tom Cruise in 'Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol', another series which he is reportedly being groomed to take over, the actor is starring as Hawkeye in the upcoming 'The Avengers' feature.
So unless Gilroy can delay scheduling, Renner may ultimately have to pass on the project.
