'Deal or No Deal' host Howie Mandel says after seeing Lindsay Lohan [photos] and other teen celebrities, he hopes his kids don't go into show business.
The 51 year-old Mandel tells the Toronto Sun that the first time he met Lindsay was in 1998 after she did 'The Parent Trap'.
"She was on my show. She was just an adorable little kid. So to see this adorable little girl turn into somebody so troubled... and then the spotlight, when you become the butt of everybody's joke. She obviously has a serious problem, an addiction. It's just a horror, and I can imagine how I'd feel if it were one of my kids."
"That's why I hope my kids never go into show business. That's a scary place. It's not a normal existence for people who are fully mature and adult. Strangers coming up to you and complimenting you, and somebody combs your hair and puts your makeup on and dresses you? And just this spotlight show business puts on you is mentally probably not a healthy thing. To put a child into that, the odds of turning out okay are pretty slim."
And what's the story behind the shaved head look that's brought him recent success?
"I did a small part in a movie, and I figured I'll just shave it and freak my wife out, and it'll grow back and it's no big deal. And she said, 'Ohmygod, that's sexy!' And I was like, 'Wow!' And then it bothered me after 30 seconds because I'd been with her for more than 20 years and I hadn't heard that before."
