Zack Snyder's Superman reboot, starring Henry Cavill as the 'Man of Steel', has delayed its theatrical release by six months.
Warner Bros. had initially announced a December 2012 release date for the project, but on Thursday, the studio revised its schedule with an official date for the movie of June 14, 2013.
It's thought that Warner Bros. decided to move Superman to make way for the release of Peter Jackson's The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, which will open on December 14, 2012.
The studio didn't want two of its more anticipated releases going head to head in the span of a few weeks.
'Man of Steel' will begin filming this summer. Along with Cavill, the cast includes Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Kevin Costner as Johnathan Kent, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Russell Crowe as Jor-El and Michael Shannon as General Zod.
