NBC Developing 'The Munsters' Remake With Bryan Fuller

NBC is developing a remake of 'The Munsters' with 'Pushing Daisies' creator Bryan Fuller.

Fuller first tried to get the network to approve a remake of the 1960s sitcom last year.

However, NBC Entertainment chairman Bob Greenblatt is said to have renewed interest in the project and has asked Fuller to tweak his script from a year ago.

The Munsters, which ran from 1964 to 1966, followed the home life of a family of monsters.

It starred Fred Gwynne as Herman Munster and Yvonne De Carlo as his wife, Lily Munster. The series was a satire of both traditional monster movies and popular family entertainment of the era, like 'The Addams Family'.

The series, which was in black and white, aired once a week on CBS. It was eventually cancelled after ratings dropped due to the premiere of ABC's Batman, which debuted in full color.
