HBO has given a series order to Aaron Sorkin's cable news drama.
The as-yet-untitled series will center around a cable news anchor played by Jeff Daniels, a newsroom boss played by Sam Waterston and a cast that includes Alison Pill, Olivia Munn [photos] and Dev Patel.
In announcing the series order, HBO said the drama would follow the team as they "set out on a patriotic and quixotic mission to do the news well in the face of corporate and commercial obstacles and their own personal entanglements."
Sorkin, who most recently won an Oscar for Best Picture 'The Social Network', has said he wants to do what he did with the West Wing for the world of cable news.
But this won't be his first look at behind the scenes of news television. He also created 'Sports Night,' which aimed to deliver the sense of working on a sports news channel like ESPN.
