Fox Gives Zooey Deschanel's 'New Girl' Full Season Pickup
Fox has embraced the 'New Girl' with a full season pickup. The network has announced it has officially ordered an additional 11 episodes of the Zooey Deschanel starrer, bringing the series to a 24-episode season order. "We love the charming Zooey Deschanel and the entire cast, we're knocked out with the work that Liz Meriwether and the whole staff is doing and we are really psyched about the upcoming episodes in the pipeline," says Kevin Reilly, President of Entertainment. "It's great that audiences have responded so positively so far and we're confident that even more people will embrace the show and more comedy on Fox this season." This after 'New Girl' premiered to 10.08 million viewers last week, Fox's highest-rated fall sitcom debut in 10 years, and pulled in 9.26 million viewers for its second episode on Tuesday. Guest stars on upcoming episodes of the series include Justin Long, playing a music teacher who catches the eye of Deschanel's Jess, and Lake Bell (photos). Next week's episode will see the guys invited to a wedding of a mutual friend. Nick (Jake Johnson), fearful he will run into his ex-girlfriend Caroline, asks Jess (Deschanel) to be his date. Meanwhile, Winston (Lamorne Morris) takes his role as an usher very seriously and gets competitive on the dance floor with a young guest.
