Madonna will perform during the halftime show at Super Bowl XLVI in February.
The NFL and NBC have confirmed the Material Girl, who has sold more than 300 million records, will highlight the show in Indianapolis.
The show is usually the most-watched televised musical event of the year. Last year more than 162 million viewers tuned in to watch The Black Eyed Peas' halftime act.
This will be the singer's first performance at the Super Bowl. She was scheduled to sing her cover of 'American Pie' at the 2000 Super Bowl, but had to cancel due to a conflict in her recording schedule.
Previous performers at the show have included Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band, Paul McCartney, Prince, U2, The Who and the Rolling Stones.
