Former 'Smallville' cast member Sam Jones III has begun serving his one year prison sentence for conspiring to sell more than 10,000 doses of the prescription painkiller Oxycodone.
The actor, who played Clark's best friend Pete Ross for the first three seasons of the show, plead guilty to the charge last year.
The 32-year-old actor, who for years publicly claimed he was 28, was arrested during a raid of his California home in 2009 after DEA agents discovered the illegal stash as well as evidence that Jones was part of a drug ring known as 'the Hollywood Connection'.
Jones is expected to be released near the end of 2012. However, he will then be required to serve three years supervised probation, as a part of his sentence.
Prosecutor had pushed for the actor to serve five years but the judge chose to tack on the probation sentence to reduce time spent behind bars.
