A news reporter trying to cover a murder case became part of the story when one of the murder suspect's relatives pulled out a gun.
WREG Channel 3 News reporter April Thompson, and her cameraman, Ben Short, had driven to the home of Wilton Goudeaux, an elderly man who was allegedly killed by his son and two others.
But as they were leaving, a man drove up, jumped out of his car and confronted them saying "everybody was lying."
"Get that camera off me," he said as he shoved the camera.
When Thompson said he couldn't touch their equipment, he stomped back to his vehicle and took out the gun.
"I bet I can do this," he said.
Thompson and Short returned to their car and called the police, who arrived shortly thereafter.
As it turned out, he was the brother of the woman who was the caretaker and is being investigated alongwith Goudeaux's son.
They are accused of drugging the victim with sleeping pills and stealing $100,000 while leaving him malnourished.
