Rosie O'Donnell isn't happy with news that Lindsay Lohan [photos] will be taking on the role of Elizabeth Taylor in Lifetime's upcoming movie.
"No," the former talk show host said bluntly on the 'Today' show when asked if Lohan was a good choice.
"Because she's had a lot of trouble doing every single movie, including Saturday Night Live. She was out and not at rehearsal and I think she's not in a place to work."
"I feel very sorry for her," she continued. "I think she needs a lot of help. She needs a lot of time away."
When Donny Deutsch wondered if Lohan was "this generation's Elizabeth Taylor," O'Donnell responded "you're out of your mind."
"You're a crackhead! Get out of here! The last thing she did good, she was 16."
"I don't think she's right for the role, and I don't think she's capable at this point of doing what's needed to portray that character," she said. "I think the interest level in her has waned significantly."
Needless to say, Lohan's rep didn't take O'Donnell's comments too kindly.
"I think Rosie should be focused on her own career right now and not everyone else's," he said in a statement.
"It's a shame someone has to launch into such a mean-spirited attack on another person in order to get publicity for themselves."
