Simon Cowell is apologizing for the revelations in an unofficial biography by author Tom Bower.
"I will be honest with you, I spent last week under a pillow in my bedroom," Cowell said at the launch of the book. "Newspapers were banned."
Among the details in the book titled 'Sweet Revenge: The Intimate Life of Simon Cowell', Bower revealed Cowell slept with fellow X-Factor judge Dannii Minogue.
"I want to publicly apologize to anybody I embarrassed because I have tried to keep my private life quiet a bit," Cowell said obviously referring to his affair with Minogue.
"And I do have to apologize to certain people and certain members of my family. That's the score,"
The book said Cowell also sought an affair with fellow panelist Cheryl Cole, but that didn't materialize.
It also revealed that Cowell schedules monthly colonics to keep his interior self in shape and gets Botox every six months.
"It simply works," Cowell is quoted in the book. "You do it twice a year. Who cares? And it balances my smoking and drinking."
The former 'American Idol' judge said he decided to cooperate with Bower and grant him a few interviews for the book after Formula One supremo Bernie Ecclestone (who was the subject of a previous book) advised him so it could be a more accurate account.
"When I first got the call saying someone was writing a book about me I said 'good, who is it?' They said 'Tom Bower'. Not good'."
"I did take Bernie's advice to invite him in. Then I read the serialisation."
"I always know how bad things are when my head of TV sends me these really sweet messages saying 'are you OK', which means it's really bad."
"Being invited here tonight when Tom called me was rather like a cat inviting a mouse to a dinner party," he laughed.
"While we are here tonight I'm going to announce something quite exclusive, I am not going to any more television for the next year. I have decided I am going to write a book," he joked.
"It may change but I am going to call it The Sordid Sex Life of Tom Bower, and we are going to be spending a lot of time together."
