HBO has renewed freshman comedies 'Veep' and 'Girls' for a second season.
Even though both shows are early in the first seasons, HBO has greenlighted ten more episodes of Lena Dunham's 'Girls', which follows four girls in New York City, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus' 'Veep', which stars the former 'Seinfeld' actress as neurotic Vice President Selina Meyer.
'Girls' premiered two weeks ago to just under a million viewers, while 'Veep' was strong with 1.4 million viewers for the network.
Not outstanding numbers but certainly respectable. And since HBO judges its shows not just by ratings on first airing but how the show does in multiple airings, including on demand and HBO Go, it concluded the critically well-received shows deserved another season.
Both comedies are expected to keep their current timeslots of 10:00 and 10:30 PM on Sunday nights.
