After doing double duty as an actor and director in the first two 'Iron Man' films, Jon Favreau has decided to hand over behind the camera duties to Shane Black so he can focus on his role as Happy Hogan.
Could this be a hint that the character will mutate into the Freak, like in the comics, sooner rather than later?
In Tales of Suspense #74, that was published in February 1966, a desperately ill Happy is mutated into a giant, savage, nearly mindless, superhumanly strong humanoid known as Freak when doctors try to cure him using a cobalt ray machine powered by Stark's experimental 'Enervator'.
Freak breaks loose and goes on a rampage, escaping and then kidnapping Pepper Potts, before Iron Man can arrive to stop him.
But while that won't happen in the third 'Iron Man' film, there is the likelihood that we'll see more of Happy to explore his mutation in a future film.
'Iron Man 3' is rumored to be centred on the Extremis storyline, featuring Ben Kingsley as a villain.
Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow and Don Cheadle are expected to reprise their roles but Scarlett Johansson [photos] probably will not return for this installment.
Rebecca Hall, Guy Pearce, James Badge Dale and Ashley Hamilton will also be newcomers to feature with a release date of May 3, 2013.
