Lindsay Lohan [photos] reportedly lied to police at the scene of her car accident as she told cops that she had not been the one driving the car.
Lohan was briefly hospitalized following the crash which saw the Porsche totalled after slamming into the back of an 18-wheeler.
However, the actress told Santa Monica police that her assistant had been driving and she was simply a passenger in the car.
Her story didn't hold up when the assistant admitted that the actress had been the one operating the vehicle. Both Lohan and her passenger had climbed out of the car's passenger side, according to witnesses.
It is a crime to provide false information to law enforcement so if police treat it as a criminal charge, they could hold Lohan accountable for the lie.
That would not only cause a dent in her "comeback" but would be considered a violation of her probation in her shoplifting case.
