NBC's 'Munsters' reboot with Pushing Daisies' creator Bryan Fuller is continuing to take shape.
After casting Jerry O'Connell as Herman Munster last week, the network has signed on Portia de Rossi to play wife Lily Munster.
Lily, an undead vampire, is the matriarch of the Munster household and the daughter of Grandpa Munster, who will be played by Eddie Izzard. Mason Cook has been cast as their werewolf son, Eddie.
Portia de Rossi has previously appeared in comedies 'Better Off Ted' and 'Arrested Development'.
But she wasn't NBC's first choice. 'True Blood' alum Mariana Klaveno was offered the role but could not be get out of her contract for Marc Cherry's 'Devious Maids'. ABC has already passed on the project but it is being shopped around to other networks.
Fuller will write and executive-produce the reboot as a one-hour pilot that is slightly darker than the original and explores the origins of Herman and Lily Munster.
