CBS' 'Late Late Show' with Craig Ferguson was even more barebones than usual on Thursday night after a power failure.
Ferguson joked about the failure and taped the show using flashlights, a hand-held floor stand and scattered house lights instead of stage lighting.
"Apparently, the lighting is sort of working but not really working on the show tonight," said Ferguson as he opened. "Some electricity is getting in and other electricity is not getting in."
"We're going to be doing the show by the light of a robot's eye," he said, referring to Geoff. "So here's the thing, we got the power but it fused in our can. There's a dozen electricians working in the back right now."
After the producer confirmed "it was a blown transformer," Ferguson quipped. "Lucky Optimus prime."
Two temporary lights were positioned to illuminate Ferguson and his guests, former 'Friends' star Lisa Kudrow and producer Harvey Weinstein, who also joked around with flashlights.
It's reminiscent of when Jimmy Kimmel resorted to recording an entire show using his laptop's webcam, a couple of years ago, following a power outage.
