And with their divorce officially finalized two days ago, the comedian continued that trend as he dropped a few nuggets of their relationship with Howard Stern on Wednesday.
"Before we got married, I just thought, 'I've got to marry her, I just love her so much," he told Stern. "And then we got married and I thought, 'Okay, this isn't really working out.'"
Pressed for more details on what led to the split and whether it had to do anything with starting a family, Brand said: "It was a lovely relationship. It mostly didn't work for practical reasons. Now we've both gone our separate ways."
"I don't want to be too glib. She'll read about this and she'll be sad and I don't want that."
"I don't want anything to hurt her. She's younger than me, she's a young woman and she's beautiful and she's sensitive and I care about her deeply."
Stern also asked Brand why he had no interest in claiming half of Katy's reported $40-million fortune in their divorce settlement.
"I've got a good job," the 'Brand X' star said. "All I want to do is live a good life. I'm not into taking money from women."
