Christopher Eccleston, best known for playing Doctor Who in its 2005 season, is in final talks to star in the 'Thor' sequel.
The British actor will play the villain in the film officially titled 'Thor: The Dark World' and go up against Chris Hemsworth's Thor.
Plot details haven't been official revealed by Marvel. However, based on nuggets that have trickled out, Eccleston will likely play Malekith the Accursed, leader of the Dark Elves of Svartalfheim.
In Norse mythology, the Dark Elves dwell within the earth. They are similar to the "dark" aspect in the battle between the light and dark of many religions.

Eccleston, who also appeared in season one of 'Heroes' as Claude, has previously starred in films from to 'Shallow Grave' and '28 Days Later' to 'G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra'.
