Comedian Larry David is putting 'Curb Your Enthusiasm' on hold to star in a mystery movie project at HBO.
The comedian's feature project was set up at Fox Searchlight earlier this year with an all-star cast that included David, Michael Keaton and Jon Hamm.
However, instead of hitting the big screen as was originally expected, the project will air on the cable network after being swooped up by HBO.
"We put our hand up and told Larry that this is the perfect home for it. Larry thought about it and decided it was," says programming president Michael Lombardo.
David will star, produce and write the largely improvisational project along with 'Curb' collaborators Alec Berg, David Mandel and Jeff Schaffer. Specific plot details for the untitled movie are being kept under wraps.
As for another season of 'Curb Your Enthusiasm', HBO says David hasn't committed to a ninth season just yet but it is likely.
"I don't think he's closed the door on Curb," says network co-president Richard Plepler. "He has essentially carte blanche with us; when he wants to come back and do Curb, we'd be thrilled."
