A featurette released by Laika and Focus, the team behind 'Coraline', demonstrates how the world of 'ParaNorman', which has been called the most ambitious stop-motion film yet, was brought to life.
If you're not familiar with stop-motion, which dates back to the beginning of film, Travis Knight, producer and lead animator of 'ParaNorman' explains the process: "You start with a puppet with a little metal skeleton inside and if you pose it, it will hold its position."
"You move it slightly, take a picture and then move it a little bit more and take another picture. When you knit enough of those individual pictures together and play them, it looks like the characters are brought to life."
The film, which features the voices of Kodi Smit-McPhee, Jeff Garlin, John Goodman, Anna Kendrick, Leslie Mann, and Casey Affleck, opens today nationwide.
